Why has a course not been marked as complete?
In less than 0.5% of cases, courses in the VinciWorks LMS are not marked as complete, despite learners reporting that they have completed the course.
This can happen for a variety of reasons related to the quality of the internet connection, poor instructional design, user error and technical issues.
Poor internet connection
Learners who attempt to complete a course with an unstable or slow internet connection may experience issues with course completions. If a learner is disconnected from the LMS and attempts to complete a course, that completion might not be recorded properly.
Problems with course design
The VinciWorks LMS supports course content in SCORM format from any course author. When designing a course, the instructional designer determines when a course is marked as complete. This could be when a learner views all pages, when a learner arrives at a final page or after a learner completes various activities.
It is sometimes possible that a learner misunderstands what tasks need to be completed before being marked as complete.
In some cases the learner completes all of the lessons in a course, but does not complete a mandatory course evaluation.
In other cases the designer adds a requirement that 100% of pages must be viewed, but the course allows learners to skip pages.
Premature closing of the background LMS window
Courses in the LMS are viewed in a popup window that overlays the LMS window. If a learner closes the LMS window in the background, the course will sever its connection with the LMS.
Flash based courses
Many older e-learning courses use Adobe Flash. Adobe Flash is not supported in many modern browsers such as Google Chrome and Apple Safari. This might lead to users not being able to access course content.
